Core Faculty, Master of Athletic Training Program: Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology

The 糖心Vlog and the School of Health and Sports Science invite applications for a third core faculty member for the Master of Athletic Training program.听 The position will work alongside the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education to create an additional area of expertise and assist in the continual process of accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).听 This position will be a full-time, 9-month appointment with expectations for expert teaching, supervision, and mentorship of athletic training students, and the ability to work collaboratively with program faculty. The position will start in Fall 2027. The university academic curriculum is based on a four-day week. Some programmatic activities require occasional late afternoon and Friday coverage.

Required Qualifications

  • Preferred: Earned Doctorate (PhD, EdD, DAT) in athletic training or a related field
  • Required: Master鈥檚 degree in a related area
  • Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience
  • Current BOC-credentialed athletic trainer in good standing
  • Verifiable NPI number
  • Eligible for an Alabama athletic training license
  • Previous experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in athletic training, rehabilitation sciences, exercise science, or kinesiology.
  • A work history that includes a minimum of 1 year of athletic training clinical practice

Essential Functions

  • Teach courses in the Master of Athletic Training curriculum specifically pertaining to therapeutic interventions (modalities and rehabilitation), management strategies, and research-related courses, and
  • Teach additional courses in the undergraduate Kinesiology program to maintain a full teaching load of 9-12 hours per semester, and
  • Serve as a preceptor for students at the 糖心Vlog clinical sites as needed, and
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education with clinical course simulations, and
  • The ability to contribute to master鈥檚 programs and experiences that include mentoring graduate students, and
  • Participate in recruitment activities of the School of Health and Sports Science; collaborate with the Program Director of MAT in all recruitment and retention activities specific to the MAT program, and
  • Serve as academic advisor to students as assigned, and
  • Supervise and travel with students on student development activities, e.g., Student SEATA conference, ALATA, and
  • Assist the MAT Program Director and Director of Clinical Education with oversight of curricular planning, CAATE standards, SACSCOC reaccreditation, and data collection from assessment tools.
